Publish Pro
Publish Pro is the full Publish toolset that allows users to author and build publications, typically with all sophisticated features enabled. It allows drag-and-drop interactions, point-and-click report building, ad hoc querying, and data visualization. You should use this version of the app if you are building sophisticated publications and need close control of all, or most, available functions.
You can use Publish Pro to add visuals to your publication, create data-driven dynamic text and infographics, apply styling and formatting, create interactions and actions that enable document filtering at build time, and more.

Alternative Publish Interfaces
The Pro experience, for users with a Pro license, typically comes WITH ALL sophisticated features enabled. However, admins can use user profiles to disable advanced options and advanced analytics within Publish Pro either for specific users or across roles. Separately, there are other variations of Publish designed for different use cases and generally suited to less technical or more business-oriented users.
The other variations are:
- Smart Publish: An easy-to-use tool that guides non-technical users step-by-step through the process of building analytical content using augmentation engines and heuristics. Once you are done, the visual you created is dropped into a new publication automatically. This tool offers users the simplest method for building publications in Pyramid.
- Publish Lite: A fully self-contained toolset for non-technical users to construct their own publications. You can add or create visuals, add text and images, and even create slicers and manage slicer interactions using simple point-and-click tools. The Lite experience only lets users create document output.
While Pro licensed users can up- or down-grade the version of Publish they use (and in some cases access multiple versions), Analyst and Viewer licensed users are only shown a subset of the functionality.
Note: The output you produce is functional across all of the different tools. This means that, if you are a Publish Lite user and you create a publication, your colleague who uses Publish Pro can view and edit that publication so long as they have access to it.

Publication Output Types
Publish can produce published documents or reports, that are then distributed via the internal Bulletin Board portal, email, file storage or Webhooks (Teams or Slack). Alternatively, designers can use Publish to generate and send inline emails, where the content is injected into the body of an email.
